BlackBerry OS 7 makes software roadmap debut

Leak shows late-2011 Twitterification

Research in Motion's BlackBerry OS 7 will make an appearance in the Autumn, if an allegedly leaked RIM roadmap is what it purports to be.

That doesn't mean we'll see devices based on the operating system at that point, however.

The leaked chart - sent to BB fan forum N4BB - places OS 7's "social networking core integration phase" commencement scheduled for October 2011. This runs through into early December. There's no other reference to the OS.

The roadmap is recording the integration of Facebook, Twitter and co. into OS 7. This will presumably come late in the OS' development process, so OS 7's formal roll-out will likely come in early 2012.

The chart also notes the expansion of the BlackBerry App World store to the PlayBook tablet. This will take place this month. ®
