Dixons to flog off old 'brands' Miranda and Saisho

Found them down the back of the sofa

Struggling retailer Dixons Store Group has appointed an IP firm to flog off two of its now-defunct brands.

Metis Partners is looking for offers for Saisho and Miranda.

Saisho is offered with "goodwill in the brand and reputation", we're told. It also holds 16 international trademarks.

Metis reckons Saisho has made £27m in sales under Dixons' care since 1982. Miranda was originally a brand for a Japanese company and was bought by Dixons for use on cameras and photographic kit in 1981; it claims £29m in sales since then.

Dixons announced a a brand bonfire last summer.

It is sticking to four brands: Logik, Sandstrom, Goji and Advent – the computing brand.

Dixons also rebranded itself Dixons last summer, after a largely unsuccessful attempt by the firm's strategy boutique to make everyone call it DSGi.

Matsui was rebranded as Currys Essentials as part of the changes.

IP specialist Metis Partners is open to offers made before 4pm on Thursday 26 May. ®
