Network Solutions battered by DDoS and period features

Sporadic service since yesterday

Network Solutions has been hit by a DDoS attack which has left customers complaining they are unable to access the domain giant's servers.

Reg reader Chris told us: "Multiple worldnic.com DNS servers are currently unavailable. Recorded message on the Network Solutions helpline (+1 570 708 8788) is putting the blame on a DDoS attack."

Another reader Eugene told us: "Their DNS services are sporadically down. Calling their support line at 1-800-333-7680 produces a message 'We apologize for any inconvenience, we are currently experiencing a Distributed Denial Of Service Attack'. Their support representatives acknowledge the issue verbally but refuse to put it in writing."

Network Solutions' Twitter feed confirms that it was experiencing problems yesterday evening, but that it appeared to think it had the problems licked.

However, by lunchtime today, it confirmed that customers were again seeing interruptions and "our network folks are working on it".

In the last hour, its operatives appear to have become increasingly frazzled, with one apparently attributing NetSol's problems to Victorian wall panelling.

sorry. We are dealing with external factors. Your sites are up but dados preventing ppl from reaching. Them

Dealing with a flood of spurious traffic is one thing, having your servers blocked by a decorative wall moulding is quite another. ®
