Inspirational message to Atlantis crew
The crew of space shuttle Atlantis were this morning treated to a wake-up call from Beyonce Knowles, who blasted out a snippet of Run the World (Girls) followed by a salute to women in space.
She said: “Good morning, Atlantis! This is Beyonce. Sandy, Chris, Doug and Rex, you inspire all of us to dare to live our dreams, to know that we’re smart enough and strong enough to achieve them.
“This song is especially for my girl, Sandy [Magnus] and all the women who’ve taken us to space with them, and the girls who are our future explorers.”
Magnus, along with commander Chris Ferguson, pilot Doug Hurley and mission specialist Rex Walheim face another day of shifting boxes from the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module, which you can catch live on NASA TV.
The Atlantis and Expedition 28 crew members took time out yesterday to chew the fat with president Obama, who was keen to stress that the last flight of the space shuttle was not the end of US manned spaceflight:
