Everything Everywhere boss jacks it in

Personal reasons

Tom Alexander, the boss of Everything Everywhere, has left the company for personal reasons.

Staff were told this morning – at the same time that a press release was sent out. CEO Tom Alexander leaves on 31 August and Olaf Swantee takes over on 1 September.

Swantee currently runs France Telecom's European operations, excluding France.

Alexander said it had been a privilege to work for EE for 12 months. He said there was never an easy time to leave a company but for personal reasons now was a good time to go.

He started at Orange in 2008 as CEO of its UK business, then stepped up to chief exec of Everything Everywhere – the merger of T-Mobile's and Orange's UK networks – in July 2010. ®
