Ford unwraps Evos cloud-connected concept car
Nice tech, nicer looks
IFA 2011 Now, we're not sure we entirely approve of a cloud-connected car capable of resetting your alarm clock - also net linked - because a colleague has delayed a meeting, but that's the vision Ford pitched today at IFA.
It gave a taster of Evos, a concept car it will be unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a few weeks' time, here touting the futuristic motor's tech.
The Ford spiel has it that the Evos will be able to adapt routes to cloud-sourced traffic data, and driving modes to the road you choose to take, whether suggested by the car because you have extra time or because it's been recommended by folk in your social network.
All entirely possible of course, and certain to happen no matter what. Likewise the ability to detect an e-car only lane, switch the hybrid powertrain to battery only, and - crucial - signal any nearby cops that the exhaust pipe they may have spotted is non-functional.
Ditto locating that rare free parking space with integrated inductive charging - and steering you to it, handling the brake and gas pedal in the slow-moving, stop-start traffic on the way.
It'll happen, and it'll happen in more standard fare than the nifty looking Evos. It may be vapour, but it's an attractive car, so here are some more snaps to enjoy:
