Apple confirms iPhone event on 4 October

Apple has started to send out invites for an announcement on 4 October and, judging by the familiar app icons in the email artwork, accompanied with the tagline "Let's talk iPhone", the event will be all about unveiling the next Apple handset.

The invites confirm widespread rumours that the early October event would indeed be one of iPhone magnitude. Whether the company discusses the iPhone 5, or the iPhone 4S remains to be seen, though. Perhaps it'll reveal both.

Either way, we'll find out on 4 October, as will you and the rest of planet Earth. Then perhaps we can all take a deep breath and start to prepare ourselves for the hype over Cupertino HQ's next fruity gadget. Yippy doodar. ®
