Fifa 12 kicks off with £2 HMV deal
Save a lot, that's the goal
With this season of the FA Premier League long underway, the annual refresh of football-related videogames is now upon us. EA returns today with its kick-about Fifa 12, which can be picked up for a generous £1.99 at HMV.
Of course there are strings attached: in order to get the game at such a low cost, customers must trade in a copy of F1 2011, the new version of Codemaster's realistic racer, released last Friday. Good news for anyone already having second thoughts over last week's game purchase, then.
Even though the RRP was set at £55, most outlets are offering Fifa 12 around the £40 mark, although discounts can be found if you hunt around, particularly in supermarkets.
Sainsbury's offers the game for £29 if a customer spends £30 or more in store. Tesco has it up for £25 when purchased with any other Top 20 chart game, while Morrison's touts the same deal for a fiver more.
If you're after PC versions though, it's available for £25 on Amazon and Play, while EA's Origin service charges more at £30.
Fifa 12 has already received a positive response, with Metacritic currently rating it at 92 per cent. I've been thrashing friends on it all week and concur - the game has certainly improved from its last outing. Whether or not it'll take the crown again in the battle for supremacy with Konami's Pro Evo remains to be seen. We'll just have to wait until PES 2012's release on 8 October to find out. ®
