All change at top of HP storage biz

Richard Masterson taking on sales director role for global accounts

HP is trying to find an heir to its StorageWorks division (SD) in the UK and Ireland following an internal move from boss man Richard Masterson to become sales director of global accounts.

In the interim, Warren Duke – HP storage sales manager for the top accounts – has assumed the SD country manager role "whilst we finalise the search", Enterprise Server Storage and Networking veep Iain Stephens said in a note to partners.

"In addition to this change, we will be spitting HPSD Global account management into two distinct areas – Commercial GA and Public Sector," said Stephens.

He added that Duke will lead public sector biz for the SD commercial ad global accounts – the largest market segments for SD and HP.

At the same time, Toby Keech has been promoted to the role of sales manager for commercial global accounts. He joined from 3PAR where he was sales manager for city accounts.

"This new role allows us to reduce span of control and allow greater focus on this important segment," said Stephen.

"The above changes are designed to further strengthen a strong management team, and continue to drive growth above the market," he added.

As previously revealed by El Reg, HP is putting together a squad of storage specialists to help resellers close deals, led by channel vet Lee Knott. ®
