Boozed-up ball-biting mum spared jail

Drinking marathon ended with lover's scrotum perforated

A woman who admitted biting a hole in her boyfriend's scrotum was spared a stretch in prison by Newcastle Crown Court on Friday.

The ball-puncturing biter, Maria Topp, a 44-year-old from Wrekenton, Gateshead, was instead handed a suspended jail term and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. She had pleaded guilty to the charge of causing grievous bodily harm.

Scrotum-nibbling Topp attacked Martin Douglas, her partner of five years, after a ten-hour drinking session in February, according to a report in The Independent. Police had been called to the flat prior to the incident and when they arrived they found Douglas with a ripped and bloodied sack.

Recorder Robin Mairs imposed a restraining order on the testicle-tearing mother-of-four to prevent her from contacting Douglas.

"This relationship is over, I think both of you accept that," Mairs said. ®
