Not content with firing patent suits at tech rivals, Apple's lawyers have forced a baby clothes retailer to halt sales of items styled on the iPod and iPhone user interfaces and icons.
The US giant is fiercely protective of its brand image, having spent millions of dollars on marketing its kit to shiny loving IT professionals and fanbois worldwide.
But the Jobsian empire is casting its legal eye beyond the tech arena having fired at least one cease-and-desist letter to ipopmybaby.com, which is punting baby clothes and T-shirts with the iconic interface used by Jesus mobes and musical pocket cash registers.
"Apple has respectfully requested that ipopmybaby.com stop selling iPhone baby outfits," the owners of the US-owned web outfit claimed on the site, which has been flogging the gear for several years.
In an effort to clear remaining stock the retailer is "celebrating with a discount" allowing parents to bag a, er, bargain.
"$12 each for all styles and sizes! (40 per cent off) (until supplies last or December 11th, whichever comes first," the site states.
Rather than forcing the retailer to bin the iOS garb, surely Apple execs should be encouraging hapless parents to indoctrinate their children in the ergonomic designs of its iToys before they can even talk? Perish the thought. ®
