Yahoo! invests in New York uber studio
Content creation hub set for March launch
Yahoo! is building a production studio in Manhattan in a bid to ramp up in-house content development for distribution across its global platform.
The production facility is set to open by mid-March and features two sets, seven edit rooms, control room and green room, the Hollywood Reporter reveals.
The Manhattan studio space will also feature a newsroom which will be the hub of content generation for the co-production partnership between ABC News and Yahoo!, announced in October.
Yahoo! Studios New York head of production supervision, Michael Manas, described the studio as a once in a lifetime chance. "This is showing Yahoo!'s commitment to premium video content. The studio will be a massive source of pride and enhance our ability to grow and innovate," he said
The New York studio sets will be used for established New York shows with other projects anticipated to be launched in the coming months. Manas told the Hollywood Reporter that every Yahoo vertical, including bloggers and reporters, “will do stuff here." ®
