Orange 3G data network goes titsup

Fault stretches from Glasgow to Bristol, at least

Some Orange customers are without data at the moment as a network fault of some sort has knocked out 3G across the country - and the cause isn't known.

Orange admits that punters have lost data connectivity, but is struggling to work out how many customers and in what areas. Here at El Reg we've had reports from both ends of Blighty, but not as many as we'd expect if the entire network was down so we'll hold judgement on that.

The situation is confused by the roaming agreement between Orange and T-Mobile, which preludes their merger into Everything Everywhere. So it's possible that Orange customers roaming onto T-Mobile will remain connected, but we won't know for certain until the cause is tracked down.

In the meantime don't be surprised if your Orange data connection fails: it's not your phone, or your coverage, the whole network is up the spout. ®
