Angry Birds Space flings 10 MILLION downloads in 3 days

Fanbois and fandroids flock to zero-grav game

The latest outing of Angry Birds - this time in spaaaace - has been downloaded 10 million times since it launched three days ago. The catapult-pinging galactic avian game was unveiled amid huge publicity on Friday. Rovio announced the expectation-smashing numbers on its Twitter feed this morning.

Angry Birds Space, which features zero-gravity physics and a new square Ice Bomb bird, went on sale alongside a line of plush toys, animation and books for keen fans.

The smartphone game's figures trounce the sales for normal console games. Chart-topping release Mass Effect 3 took a week to sell 3.5 million copies worldwide. However, bear in mind that mobe apps are a bit cheaper: Angry Birds Space is free (although has advertising) on Android and costs 69p on iPhone, and is also available for PC, iPad and Mac.

El Reg asked Rovio for a breakdown of sales numbers across the different platforms and we'll let you know as soon as they've counted them up. ®
