Seagate's latest GoFlex kit 'bolts into stores

Speed of Thunder

Seagate rolled out its latest batch of external hard drives this week alongside a new Thunderbolt adaptor, bringing the high-speed connectivity tech to its entire GoFlex range.

Four drives are available.

The GoFlex Pro for Mac is the company's 500GB entry level model. Memory is doubled with the GoFlex Special Edition for Mac and boosted to either 2TB or 3TB with the GoFlex Desk for Mac.

All three boast both USB 2.0 and FireWire 800 connectivity.

Those looking for something a little less weighty can opt for the GoFlex Slim for Mac, a 500GB drive with a "sleek, anodised design" that comes without the FireWire port.

Joining the lineup of HDDs comes the GoFlex Thunderbolt adaptor as well, compatible with any of the company's GoFlex drives.

That makes it available for use with the high speed port on the modern Mac - and any Windows machine equipped with the Intel-developed tech too. And yes, despite only being available from Apple stores, the drives are very PC friendly, interchanging without the need for formatting.

The Seagate GoFlex for Mac collection starts at £100 for the Slim and ranges to £180 for the 3TB GoFlex Desk.

The Thunderbolt adaptor starts at £100, with a desktop drive version available for £170. ®
