HTC fires up latest Desire

HTC would like you to know about the Desire C, a Beats Audio-equipped phone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Pitched a the lower reaches of the smartphone segment - T-Mobile will be selling the C for £180 on PAYG, for example, or free on a £15.50 per month contract - the handset is based around a 3.5in, 320 x 480 display and has a 5Mp camera round the back.

You don't get a lot of storage on the device, but HTC is throwing in two years' free access to 25GB of Dropbox storage.

NFC fans will appreciate the touch-to-pay variant of the C that HTC is planning.

HTC didn't say when the NFC-equipped C will be out, but the standard version goes on sale next month from all the usual network operators and retailers. ®
