Sony to bring bog-friendly blowers to Blighty
Lav-loving Androids safe from spills
Is Sony taking the piss? Enter two loo-friendly Xperia smartphones, launched over here today but already on sale in Japan, which won't be spoiled by unanticipated drops into the bog.
When you need to Go... an appropriately yellow-coloured Xperia
The lav-loving pair are the Go and the Acro S - 'A' for Armitage, 'S' for Shanks, perhaps? The Go - because you know when you need to - is a 3.5in, 1GHz boy. The Acro S has a CPU clocked to 1.5GHz and a 4.3in screen.
No quad-core chips, these: as Sony staffers have said in the past, the time isn't right for four-core processors. No prizes for guessing the Acro S and Go use dual-core chippery.
Acro S
Both offer the "highest" level of dust- and water-resistance, Sony promised, should you let the slip while you're pointing at the porcelain.
Handy if you need to give someone a tinkle, we suppose.
Now wash your hands
The Acro S will also come with Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich, though Go buyers will have to make do with Gingerbread until Sony posts an ICS update. Assuming, of course, that it doesn't change its mind and can the upgrade, as it recently has with the Xperia Play.
The Acro S has a 12Mp camera, the Go a 5Mp job. Both will go on sale here in Q3, pricing TBC. ®
