'iPhone 5 case' sparks supplier fondle frenzy

Rumour with a view

Whispers surrounding Apple's next iPhone show no sign of slowing, with the prospect of a 4in display model gaining traction following video of a supposed iPhone 5 backcover that surfaced on the web this week.

The clip – snapped by the guys at eTradeSupply – shows the unibody plate design we've already been introduced to through leaked iPhone 5 product shots, with the smaller dock on the bottom, a repositioned audio port and, of course, the larger body capable of housing a 4in display.

Other notable differences include modified speaker grilles and a smaller Sim card tray, which fits in line with Apple's plans to shrink Sims once again.

While the commentator in the video certainly plays the "could be" cards, rather than taking a definitive "this is the next iPhone" stance, the influx of leaked content is hard to ignore.

The iPhone 5 isn't likely to emerge before October, but pieces of a particular puzzle – that look like they will form the next handset from Apple – seem to be falling into place. ®
