Pure pushes AirPlay enabled audio box

Apple today keeps the dock away

Pure rolled out the red carpet for Apple AirPlay last week with the Contour 200i Air, which supports the Wi-Fi share tech for streaming music without the need to continuously dock.

The Contour 200i Air connects to a home Wi-Fi system and shares network settings with any iOS device placed in the dock, simply by pressing a button on the rear of the 200i and accepting the unification message on the iOS display.

From there on, the user can remove his gadget and play tunes through the box's 36W RMS output. The 200i features 3.5in dual full-range speakers, complete with DSP corrected audio amps that promise a "room filling … tonal richness".

You can connect up your PC or Mac by accessing the AirPlay tab in iTunes and proceed from there.

There are also connections for AV systems with a digital audio-out, as well as an aux-in for connecting other MP3 players.

iOS users can download the free Pure Lounge app. This connects to thousands of internet radio stations, on-demand content and, via the paid-for service Pure Music, millions of tracks online. Pure Music subs kick off at £4.99 per month.

The Pure Contour 200i Air is available now in the UK for £200.
