EMC's global reorg, which The Reg has reported here, will see Alister Dias take over as the storage-led company's new head for its Australian and New Zealand operations.
As Chris Mellor reported at the link above, longtime Australian EMC head honcho David Webster will head sales and customer operations in Asia Pacific and Japan. The Reg has learned that his St Leonards-based seat will go to Alister Dias, who has served as Country Manager for the two nations, reporting to Webster's role of President.
The Reg understands Dias has already disclosed the new role to customers.
Informed sources close to EMC have told us we're "on the money" with news of Dias' appointment. EMC later issued a statement confirming the news.
Passing the torch to Dias will almost certainly mean a smooth transition for EMC's local operations, as he has been with the company for 12 years.
As his LinkedIn profile notes, Dias has already served as Country Manager for New Zealand, so already has decent experience in big chairs and is ascending the corporate ladder at a steady pace.
As our other reports note, today's big shakeup at EMC and VMware will mean new priorities for both companies. Dias therefore seems to be stepping into a role that may have a different focus to that Webster filled, although of course shifting plenty of storage kit and associated software will remain the focus. ®
