Polish Samsung Galaxy S IIIs first to scoff Jelly Bean update

More Euro countries and a Galaxy of mobes to follow

Samsung has started rolling out Android Jelly Bean to a lucky few Europeans who have a capable gadget and don't have a pesky network operator standing in the way.

Fandroids with a Sammy Galaxy S III in Poland are the first to get version 4.1, the latest build, of Google's mobile operating system, and other European countries will get their beans "gradually".

"The availability and schedule of the software upgrade will vary by market and wireless carriers’ requirements," the South Korean firm said in a statement - which is fair enough given the amount of tinkering the mobile operators tend to do to new Android OS releases, but most frustrating for anyone waiting for an upgrade.

Google's Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S phones and Nexus 7 fondleslab, as well as Motorola's Xoom, were all due their doses of Jelly Bean in July, although some mobile networks held up the rollout.

The S III won't be the only Samsung device to get Android 4.1 either: the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Notes and lots of others - see the full list below - are also due to get the new OS, although only in that most vague of timescales "soon". ®
