Snouts out of trough for porker pair

A couple of voracious Brighton blokes have been banned for life from an all-you-can-eat Mongolian barbecue chow-house - after repeated attacks on the restaurant's buffet station threatened to eat the owner out of business.

For two years, George Dalmon and Andy Miles, both 26, enthusiastically took up GOBi's offer to "repeat as many times as you wish" for a set price of £12, but one final assault on the trough proved a scoff too far.

Ex-rugby player Dalmon explained: "We’ve been eating there for a couple of years but suddenly the owner came to our table in front of all the customers, told us we were eating him out of business and said we were a couple of pigs. I asked him if he was joking but he told us we were banned for life. I couldn’t believe it."

The unnamed manager claimed the pair only ever drank water, never paid the optional service charge and ate more than their fair share. The boss defended his decision to blacklist the two customers, and said: "Basically they just come in and pig out. We have put up with them for two years but I’ve had enough.

"They spoil everything. We are supposed to be a buffet, but they eat everything out of the bowls before people can get there. We just can’t keep doing this."

Dalmon fingered the inadequacy of the crockery as the cause of the buffet-hogging. He said: "They’ve only got small bowls and you can’t get enough in there so we always go back for more. It’s an all-you-can-eat place so we love it."

Sadly, the Brighton bloaters will have to find another source of unlimited nourishment. The manager insisted: "We are not a charity. We are a business. It’s our restaurant and we can tell people not to come back if we don’t want them to." ®
