John McAfee blogs from Guatemalan jail, says coffee excellent
Report says fugitive arrested for illegal entry, deportation imminent
John McAfee has been arrested in Guatemala and says the nation's jails are far nicer than those in Belize.
McAfee has blogged about his arrest, saying "I asked for a computer and one magically appeared. The coffee is also excellent."
McAfee's post also says "Only time will tell what will happen. No one has a crystal ball. However, I would be truly shocked if I did not conduct the press conference tomorrow as I had originally planned."
It looks as if he will get that shock, as Reuters reports reports Guatemala's Interior Minister Mauricio Lopez Bonilla as saying "He entered the country illegally and we are going to seek his expulsion for this crime."
The software mogul will be reportedly dumped back over the border on Thursday.
McAfee only recently made it to Guatemala, after first alleging he was trying to reach Mexico.
His flight is motivated by a belief he will not receive a fair hearing when questioned by authorities in Belize over the suspected murder of a neighbour.
McAfee's post signs off with the jaunty observation that "I believe, by the way, that blogging from a jail cell might be a groundbreaking activity. Let’s see if it catches on." ®
