Microsoft exec selling his Surface tablet

Not dumping, upgrading

Just when you thought enthusiasm for Windows 8 and the Surface tablet could not possibly get any more tepid, a Microsoft New Zealand employee intends to sell one of the devices.

Kiwi tech news site spotted Techday spotted a Tweet from Nigel Parker, leader of Microsoft New Zealand's Developer & Platform Group at Microsoft New Zealand.

Here's the Tweet:

Parker's not dumping the Surface: he's upgraded from the Windows RT Surface to a new Surface Pro. Nor is his family Surface fleet receding to embarrassing levels: his kids share another RT 'slab.

It's fair enough that Parker is moving to the newer slab, which is more suited to his job than the RT edition. Yet with Windows 8 not exactly storming out the door, it's far from a good look for a Microsoft employee to be declaring any Surface or TIFKAM-packing device surplus to requirements even if in this case it's far from a rats/sinking ships scenario.

The ad for the 'slab is here. Parker's hopeful reports of the sale will see him score a better price! ®
