Troubled integrator-cum-reseller Capita IT Services (CITS) has hired fallen channel giant 2e2's former sales and marketing director.
Ian Thomas rocks up at CITS today as sales boss in a move that was confirmed to staff by managing director Peter Hands.
"Ian has a background in travel, telecoms and IT services and spent 14 years at British Airways running contact centres in the UK and worldwide," said Hands in a memo, seen by El Chan.
In addition to BA, Thomas has held various senior roles at C&W Worldwide, and spent five months at Daisy Group as interim commercial director before pitching up at 2e2 in September 2011.
As world + dog knows, 2e2's ten UK subsidiaries went into administration in January and the organisation was subsequently broken up. Some units were sold while the others were closed. Bosses at 2e2 apparently steered the company almost £50m into the red in calendar 2012, administrator FTI Consulting stated in a report to creditors.
The arrival of Thomas at CITS follows a restructure at Capita carried out to end job duplication, speed up decision making and improve service delivery.
CITS boss Hands said the addition of Thomas "allows [CITS commercial director] Gerald Sumpter to concentrate on our commercial business".
"As our senior management team structure evolves, we are creating an organisation which is more focused and accountable," Hands added.
A Capita spokeswoman confirmed the appointment of Thomas but made no further comment. ®
