Ingram Micro wields axe in management rejig

Director of Advanced Solution Divison Jon Bunyard exits stage left

Ingram Micro has parted with Jon Bunyard, the director of its Advanced Solutions Division (ASD) in a management rejig.

Channel veteran Bunyard ran Computacenter's distribution (CCD) wing and transferred with the business when it was acquired by Ingram in 2009, and later rebranded as Ingram Micro Value.

The unit underwent another makeover in February, renamed as ASD with long serving Ingram Micro director Jason Beal taking on the boss role at a European level.

Closer to home, UK senior sales director Julian Thompson was given control of the local ASD biz, replacing Bunyard. The other UK sales director Mike Farrah is in charge of volume products.

A spokesman at Ingram confirmed there had been a "reshuffle" within ASD but was unable to comment further at this point.

Sources in the channel said Bunyard's exit was a surprise, and claimed that the move was to cut costs, pointing to rival Tech Data which has individual heads for each of its business units.

Bunyard sent us a statement, saying it had been a "privilege" to work at Ingram and that he is "exploring future opportunities" in the industry.

Ingram Micro's profits were squeezed hard by the cost of integrating acquisitions including re-org expenses and intense competition on price in its calendar Q1, falling 44.4 per cent year-on-year to $49.7m. ®
