HP UK channel man Bourguet to be crowned consumer veep

Stepping into his shoes will mean sitting in the hot seat. Erm ...

HP UK's local channel PC and printer bigwig Pascal Bourguet is set to move into a senior position in the firm's EMEA retail biz.

Bourguet rocked up at HP in 2001 as a retail manager and went onto look after major accounts including CarreFour and Dixons in Europe, as well as overseeing consumer PC sales in Blighty.

He was made UK and Ireland Printer and Personal Systems channel sales director at the end of 2011.

"Pascal is moving to become vice president of consumer for Personal Systems EMEA," said a PR mouthpiece for HP, adding that "a replacement has yet to be announced."

The person HP decides is right to fill Bourguet's boots will have their work cut out: according to Context data, HP shipments through UK disties fell 17.7 per cent in Q2 even as the market grew double digits.

This came hot on the heels of Lenovo ousting HP as the largest shifter of PC tin on the planet but there wasn't much in it and analysts reckon that the situation will have flip-flopped by Q4.

According to Digi Times, this role reversal could happen even earlier in Q3 when HP shipments are forecast to rise by up to 20 per cent on the back of bulkier orders and Lenovo sales are projected to decline by to nine per cent sequentially.

Bourguet was unavailable to comment. ®
