Top execs off as Zynga's new CEO shaves 'layer' off senior ranks

No more COO, CTO or CPO

Zynga's new chief exec Don Mattrick is shaking things up in management at the social gaming firm, which apparently includes getting rid of a number of top senior execs.

Chief technology officer Cadir Lee, chief operating officer David Ko and chief people officer Colleen McCreary are all leaving the firm that makes Farmville, Mattrick said in an email to employees.

Mattrick has shuffled the top table so that 13 executives now report directly to him, including the seven heads of the firm's existing games.

"We are taking layers out of the executive ranks to get senior leaders closer to important product initiatives," he added in the email, which was later published on the company's blog.

The chief unveiled the changes just ahead of Zynga's quarterly all-employee meeting, where he's expected to let employees know what his plan might be for turning the firm's fortunes around.

In his email, Mattrick insisted that Zynga was an "amazing company" with "tremendous potential for future growth", but he didn't give any details on how he was hoping to tap into some of that growth. ®
