Alternative Networks hauls in heavy duty sales hand

Ex-Dell and Vodafone man Huggett lands at LSE-listed biz comms outfit

Alternative Networks has turned to former Vodafone UK enterprise channel boss Chris Huggett to reinvigorate stagnating sales.

The appointment as group sales director at the London Stock Exchange-listed biz comms provider comes after a disappointing 2013 for investors, when revenue stagnated at £114m and operating profit dipped to £12.3m.

Edward Spurrier, CEO at Alternative Networks, claimed that Huggett, who also bags a seat on the board, "brings a wealth of experience and sales leadership from market leading businesses".

Most recently, Huggett was networking sales director at HP, having joined via the 3Com acquisition where he was veep for UK and East EMEA. Even further back in time he was enterprise sales director at Vodafone, Dell and Cisco.

Current group sales bigwig Jim Sewell will revert to his former role at Alternative Networks as chief strategy officer "and will be focused primarily on business development and acquisitions".

Only last week, Alternative Networks hoovered up Intercept IT, a vendor of hosted desktop services to SMEs, and PC/server virtualisaion to enterprise. ®
