Plusnet's broadband and phone service is slowing coming back to life, after the telco's network suffered a nasty hour-long outage this morning.
The BT-owned firm did not cough to the cause of the downtime, which struck customers at 9:30am, but it did confirm that subscribers would struggle to get online.
Anecdotal reports on Twitter appeared to show that the technical blunder had hit a fairly large number of Plusnet's userbase.
It said on its service status page that the Sheffield-based ISP was "aware of an issue resulting in customers not being able to access websites or use other internet based services".
Occasionally when browsing you may receive an error stating that your browser is unable to find the site specified.
Our network engineers are currently investigating this issue and we will provide an update as soon as any more information becomes available.
We are also receiving an increased volume of calls from customers who are suffering from this issue, meaning that you may find longer than normal waits when calling.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Some customers complained on Twitter that they were unable to stay in contact with Plusnet's helpline during the outage.
Plusnet's social media bods blamed the network going titsup for the ill communication.
Plusnet has now told its subscribers that its "engineers have identified the issue and believe that service should now be restored".
The Register sought comment from Plusnet, but it hadn't got back to us at time of writing. ®
