Sony DENIES PlayStation Network WOBBLES despite gamer GRIPES

Claims of a DDoS attack swell online

Updated An unknown number of gamers have been kicked off of Sony's PlayStation Network, but the company is continuing to insist that its service is stable.

Anecdotal reports posted on social media appear to tell a different story, however.

Some customers are currently saying that they are being greeted with a message that reads: "the network is undergoing maintenance."

Others, meanwhile, are making uncorroborated claims that the PlayStation Network is suffering a Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.

DownDetector has similarly noted a big spike in apparent network strife for PSN gamers.

In an official statement on its support site, Sony said:

We are aware that some users are experiencing difficulty enjoying the PSN. We have confirmed the PSN is stable. If you are having trouble, we encourage you to contact your internet service provider.

The company continues to claim its current network status is "online". However, the page also states it was last updated on 15 August.

Separately, Sony has maintenance scheduled for Monday, which may upset Brits who hoped to play on the PSN all day tomorrow seeing as it's a public holiday in Blighty.

The Register asked Sony to tell us more about the network wobbles reported by its userbase, but the tech giant was yet to get back to us at time of publication. We'll update this story if we do hear more.
