The Department of Work and Pensions has issued a call to tech firms to provide and host a toolset for service integration and management functions in a gig worth up to £17.5m over the next three years.
The contract notice posted on the Official Journal of the European Union today, part of IT Transformation Programme, gives prospective suppliers a month to the day to fill in the tender and send ‘em off.
The toolset must include configuration, integration and “knowledge transfer to up-skill” the DWP’s internal capabilities, fit in with the current software-as-a-service delivery model and meet ISO27001 and PCI-DSS security protocols.
“The contracting authority handles large quantities of citizens’ personal data assets, [and] has on-going responsibility to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of that data,” the contract notice stated.
The “solution” must be able to scale to roughly 93,000 users across the DWP and related bodies, and cope with 35,000 incidents p/m, be hosted “off-site”, and allow other suppliers to “easily interface using standard integration methods”.
The processes covered include service desk, change management, service validation and test and request fulfilment.
The standard three year contract comes with an option for two one year renewals. It is worth between £3.5m to £17.5m over its lifespan, and even then this is purely an estimated spend, there are no guarantees.
Even if the total spend is realised, it will be a drop in the ocean compared to the meelions of pounds the DWP has already pissed up the wall on wasted tech since the Universal Credit programmes was conceived. ®
