Violin Memory hires ex-Egnyter to add heat to global channel sales

Fills hole left by Hoppe

Flash storage biz Violin Memory is hoping to pump up its channel sales volume by recruiting an ex-Egnyte channel sales VP to replace a guy who went to HGST.

Jeff Nollette joins from Egnyte, where he spent seven months as its VP for Channels, helping to build a channel for that company's file sync and share product. Before that he was a five-year EMC man, and was senior director for its national partner programme and coming in from Isilon.

At Violin he fills a hole left by Ken Hoppe, who vacated Violin's premises in April to join HGST as its VP for Sales. HGST has a lot of flash product assets to sell as well as disk drive products. But that position only lasted until September this year, just six months. According to his LinkedIn profile, he's now an advisor to Clearlogin, an early stage startup which produces multi-app cloud login facilities.

Violin also lost Narayan Venkat, VP for products and marketing, in April. He went to Tegile as chief marketing officer.

Violin got a new CEO, Kevin DeNuccio, in February 2014.

It's a lot about flash and the cloud, with this interesting series of moves that reflect changes in business and personal career prospects in the industry. ®
