Belkin WeMo Maker
For kids that like to tinker, there are plenty of gadgets around. You could pick up some Arduino kit at Maplin, for example, or make some accessories for a Raspberry Pi. Or you can try a WeMo maker.
Part of Belkin's home control range, the Maker is a Wi-Fi controlled module that has a relay output, and a sensor input. It can be controlled via the WeMo app and gives enthusiasts the opportunity to add remote control and rules to anything that will present an on/off signal to the sensor input. It's also compatible with IFTTT, so the possibilities could be endless. If some youngster or enthusiast has been experimenting with electronics, why not put one of these in their stocking and see what they can cook up?

Focusrite iTrack Pocket
If you've got a cheeky vlogger or a budding artist to buy gifts for, then the iTrack Pocket could be the answer, assuming they've a Lightning interfaced iPhone. The microphone built into an iPhone isn't really at its best when it comes to recording performances, and that's where the iTrack Pocket comes in.
With stereo microphones along the front, and an instrument/guitar input at the side, it provides a handy stand for the phone to capture video. The Lightning connection feeds everything into the phone, where you can use Focusrite's own app, or iOS staples such as GarageBand to complete a masterpiece. The only downside? It's unlikely to make Christmas any quieter.
