Brit thesp Kate Winslet eyes lead female role in Steve Jobs biopic – report

Near, far, wherever you are. iBelieve the heart does go on

British actor Kate Winslet has reportedly entered talks with Universal to play the lead female role in the biopic of Apple supremo Steve Jobs, who died in 2011.

According to Variety magazine, Oscar winner Winslet, who is perhaps best known for her performance in epic, watery-doom flick Titanic, was likely attracted to the film because of the number of big names attached to it.

However, Jobs – which is based on Walter Isaacson's critically mauled biography – has been fraught with casting trouble from the start. And, as noted by the Hollywood bible, it has already moved from one production studio to another, after Sony ditched the project.

In November, Batman actor Christian Bale declined the opportunity to channel the spirit of Jobs. His rejection of the movie came after Leonardo DiCaprio turned down the role.

Producers roped in British director Danny Boyle, after they failed to strike a deal with The Social Network filmmaker David Fincher.

Prometheus star Michael Fassbender is now expected to play Jobs and Seth Rogen will appear as Apple co-founder Steve "Woz" Wozniak. ®
