Outsourcer Capita snaps up Solid State Solutions for undisclosed wonga
Year of the Gobble for acquisition-happy biggun
Outsourcing giant Capita has gobbled up Basingstoke storage company Solid State Solutions (S3) for an undisclosed sum.
The £22m turnover business will sit within Capita's IT Enterprise Services tech biz.
The company has 30 staff with more than 300 private and public sector clients.
The move is likely to bolster Capita's growing public sector offering, with the company having made a number of significant wins in local and central government - such as its £400m deal with the Ministry of Justice last year.
It noted that it will now have access to a datacentre accredited to a level which can offer enhanced security to protect sensitive information - a common requirement for central government departments and some agencies.
Referring to government security jargon it said: "S3 currently utilises datacentre space in a Tier 3+ data centre located in Farnborough, Hampshire, which is BIL3 and List X accredited."
Peter Hands, executive director of Capita IT Enterprise Services, said: “Data storage is becoming increasingly important for our clients – they want a solution which not only offers guaranteed security but also flexibility, accessibility and value."
The deal rounds off a number of deals made by the acquisition-hungry outsourcing giant this year, including Retain International, and specialist security reseller Network Technology Solutions.
Last year Capita spent £271m acquiring 13 companies. The company reported a revenue increase of 15 per cent of £3.85bn. ®
