Chris Carter's cult, '90s telly classic The X-Files could be set for a return to the small screen, after the Fox network confirmed it was in talks to hit reboot on the drama series.
Original cast members David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are expected to reprise their roles as FBI special agents Mulder & Scully in the popular sci-fi show, according to Deadline.
Fox TV Group bigwig Gary Newman was quoted as saying he was "hopeful" that The X-Files would return.
Deadline separately cited Fox chair Dana Walden explaining that they were at a logistical stage with creator Carter and the stars of the show to check availability.
Anderson has appeared on TV screens this side of the pond in Northern Ireland-based psychological thriller The Fall for the BBC.
While Duchovny, in recent years, has played womanising novelist Hank Moody in Showtime's comedy series Californication. ®
