Hey channel dudes, says Kaminario, we REALLY want to flog more kit

Embiggenment may help stave off competition

Kaminario, needing to enlarge its sales, is launching its first channel programme to increase its market points of presence.

With its iSPC-1 benchmark-topping K2 all-flash array, Kaminario is facing steadily increasing competition selling to enterprises as EMC (XtremIO), Pure Storage, Solidfire and IBM (FlashSystem) chip away at its market.

There are more than 70 existing Kaminario channel partners but it needs to broaden its channel and "scale to partners of every size, industry and geography." It wants to support a broader range of partners and use cases, and so grow its business.

Kaminario has now started itself an Accelerate Partner programme with the usual goodies like product discounts, volume rebates, marketing development funds, dedicated marketing resources, joint account planning, and training and certification programmes.

There are two membership classes: authorised, with access to marketing collateral and sales tools - pretty basic to say the least, and certified, which adds in volume rebates, market development funds, dedicated sales and marketing resources and discounted demo gear.

Kaminario raised $68m at the end of last year and here we are with the first fruits of that fund-raising.

El Reg would guess product development is also going to get a cash boost, and thinks we might see marketing wheezes like a K-stack or K-Pod approach, twinning K2 arrays with Cisco UCS servers. Why not? Everybody else seems to be jumping on the UCS bandwagon.

The Kaminario Accelerate partner programme is available in North America now and will expand to EMEA in the second quarter. There's information on the Kaminario scheme here. ®
