22 years on the job enough for any man... tech vet Stevison gets call

EntaTech veteran and veep Jon Atherton is leaving the business today for pastures new, with industry old timer Dave Stevinson stepping into the role.

Atherton has been with Enta for more than 22 years, half his life, and the company insisted it was his decision to quit the position to take “time out with his family”.

Founder and owner of Enta Group Jason Tsai told us Stevinson had spent the past fortnight “behind the scenes” getting a feel for operations and will start as commercial director.

“He [Stevinson] is ready and ambitious to take the company to a different level,” he told The Channel.

Tsai said if progress is made then his new general will be made the “future MD or CEO”.

In fiscal ’14 ended 28 February, Enta Tech turned over £118.1m, up from £81.81m in the prior year, as it maintained a strong share of Microsoft OEM and Fujitsu’s tech markets.

Operating profits grew to £4.17m but a combination of the loss on the disposal of a subsidiary, interest payable on loans and tax left net profit at £660k, down from £2m.

Tsai said his two sons do not want to inherit the Enta Group of businesses and so he is preparing to hand part of Enta Tech to the management team, as he did in the MBO at Entanet.

Sources suggest the division of assets may be part of the reason why Atherton decided to split, but this was unconfirmed. ®
