Radial G: Racing Revolved

Worth a mention purely for the length of the queue of men – loads of men – who obviously want to play this game, Radial G: Racing Revolved is very reminiscent of the F-Zero or Wipeout series, with a cyberpunk aesthetic, soundtrack pumping techno beats and neon speed-boost chevrons straight off a Cyberdog hoodie. Playing it using the Oculus Rift was an adrenaline rush and suitable replacement for watching Top Gear. More info Tammeka Games

The Swindle is the latest offering from Size Five Games. Billed as a "steampunk cybercrime caper", it involves infiltrating various facilities to steal their cash and escape. But there are plenty of different ways to go about it.

I can take the stealthy method and enter through a skylight on the roof, or go in with guns blazing, before hacking the security systems and blowing the place to pieces. I can use my stolen loot to upgrade my steampunk accessories. The super-slick visuals reminded me of a Valiant Hearts/Team Fortress mash-up. More info Size Five Games

As Valve was strictly keeping demos for its new VR headset under wraps and for devs only, I figured I would get hands-on on with some hardware at the Roto booth. This headset technology is the world’s first motorised Virtual Reality platform. Taking my seat and donning the Oculus Rift, I was bodily absorbed and immersed into Alien Isolation. It’s a great game to demo this platform on, as it’s so atmospheric and really, really scary.

Though initially I just started spinning round, as I had my foot on just one pedal instead of both I quickly got a sense of how I could physically move myself through a VR environment. This is an innovative but pretty unwieldy piece of kit, but if they had one in my local I would be there every night.
