AssangeTM ♥s dictator Kim Jong-un say Sony Pictures' lawyers

Media again asked to ignore the purloined letters

Sony Pictures Entertainment's legal representatives appear to again have written to media, entreating them not to write about the documents pinched from the company's servers last year.

The letter, a purported copy of which can be found here (PDF) makes the argument that WikiLeaks' decision to publish the documents “rewards a totalitarian regime seeking to silence dissident speech” and rebuts - vigorously – WikiLeaks' arguments that the trove it published last week belongs in the public eye.

Sony wrote similar letters last December, threatening that any losses flowing from the publication of its stuff would be revisited upon those who chose to publish it.

This time around there's no such hint of a threat, but the document we've linked to above references to a heap of laws – copyright, theft, possession of stolen goods, unauthorised access to computers – that Sony Pictures reckons those who publish might find themselves fighting.

The letter is on the letterhead of Boies, Schiller and Flexner, and is signed by David Boies. The firm and Mr Boies were responsible for last year's letters. ®
