Zip Style Method: Ten swanky laptop bags for her
Fashionably great
Tumi Sinclair Nina Commuter Brief
Admittedly this is another expensive brand. That said, it’s worth considering not just for style but its hard wearing build and the warranty. Sophisticated and simple in design the Sinclair range is made up of modern professional totes and briefs for women.
The look of the Nina is textured twill with leather trim and polyester lining. It takes a 15 inch laptop with extra compartments for essentials. Other features include a padded pocket for a tablet plus several interior and exterior pockets for accessories. It has comfortable handle, and a removable, adjustable shoulder strap.
Oh, and a word on the warranty: Tumi will repair any bag that is damaged due to normal wear and tear within the first five years. But, ladies, this does not include damage caused by cosmetic spills.
Barbour Wax Leather Briefcase
For many, the world is divided into his and hers. Not me. I want nothing overtly girly – but I still need feminine sensibility and this briefcase from Barbour’s Classic range hits the spot for me. Yes, it’s in the men’s section but importantly It fits a laptop up to 17 inches, and if you’re not lugging much it remains slim. Not so flash, the aged antique metal fittings, leather straps and signature Barbour tartan on the interior deliver a mix of style and understatement.
There’s just one slip pocket on the inside and three large pockets on the outside for essentials like sunglasses and mobile. The leather handles and detachable shoulder strap are easy on the body, especially if used for weekend away gear or gym kit. Finally, being partly made from robust waxed cotton, it copes with slumming it, whether in a field or dodgy pub, with no cleaning required – you have to seriously trash this bag before it needs a wipe over.
