How to deliver apps with Azure RemoteApp

Step 1: Watch this webcast on how it's done...

Promo Azure RemoteApp (ARA) is fresh out the door and Microsoft is keen to get this cloud service into your mitts. So it has asked us to make you aware of three key things for your delight and delectation:

  • Watch the (45-min) “How To Deliver Apps with Azure RemoteApp” on-demand webcast here.
  • Download the free Azure RemoteApp trial for 30-days (up to 20 users) here.
  • Register for the Enterprise Mobility Workshop in London on June 19.

More about Azure RemoteApp

Running an application on any device sounds like it should be a breeze, but - and it’s a big but - according to El Reg blogger and IT manager Adam Fowler, this “requires an all-encompassing solution from a reliable vendor, as well as rapidly deploying ways for all devices to access them”.

Microsoft has a new horse, called Azure RemoteApp that combines Windows applications with Remote Desktop Services on Microsoft Azure. Azure RemoteApp is cloud-based - which means scalable, per-user monthly OPEX pricing - and slots into Microsoft’s desktop and application virtualisation portfolio. Here’s the spiel:

Azure RemoteApp enables users to access corporate applications from anywhere and on a variety of devices. - Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, or Android. Your company’s applications run on Windows Server in the Azure cloud, where they’re easier to scale and update.

Users can access their applications remotely from their Internet-connected laptop, tablet, or phone. While appearing to run on the users' local device, the applications are centralised and protected on Azure.
