The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (of the net). Make your vote count
Who will take GCHQ's crown as the evil overlord?
Which tech company do you most love to hate? Why not nominate them for ISPA’s tech villain of the year award?
The British Internet Services Providers’ Association holds annual Internet Hero and Internet Villain awards and is once again asking the public for their nominations.
Last year, GCHQ was crowned the internet industry’s Mr Evil thanks to its mass surveillance activities.
Technically, the awards are supposed to go to those who “have done the most to help or hinder the internet industry”, but snooping has become a big theme and The Guardian was handed the Hero Crown in 2014 for its coverage of the Snowden revelations.
Nominations can be sent to ISPA via email (admin@ispa.org.uk) or via twitter (@ISPAUK) using the hashtags #InternetHero and #InternetVillain.
The deadline for your votes is 9 June and the awards ceremony will take place on 2 July.
There are other awards as well – 17 in total – in categories such as Best VoIP Award and Best Use of Digital, but really, everybody loves a baddie. ®
