Cheesy vid from inside Microsoft seller milks Office 365 for larffs

Last Christmas, I gave you my Cloud, the very next day you gave it away

Vid El Chan has got hold of a video nasty by some senior execs at Microsoft licensing giant Insight Enterprises that appears to be a faint stab at humour over a customer’s migration to the fluffy white stuff.

The short starts with Alexander Kaatz, veep of sales and marketing EMEA (he should’ve known better) acting as a sales rep, and Rolf Adam, veep of services EMEA (so should he) posing as a punter.

Presumably Kaatz – who spent 12 years at Microsoft in senior roles – doesn’t start off client sales meetings by asking of their tech set up:

“What the hell is this ... this is crap, you know what you need ... you need to have a cloud solution.

Slick stuff.

In any event, Adam seems impressed and signs up, only to realise he doesn’t know how to use it and complains at their next meeting of the “expensive” Office 365 license for a service that “doesn’t work”.

“Have you deployed it?" asks Kaatz. What do you mean, says Adam, “you didn’t give me a disk”. No says the sales rep, “give me your data and I [sic] deploy it for you in the cloud ... and now it works”.

Well-hidden beneath the layers of sophisticated humour is acknowledgment that Microsoft is paying out more fees to channel customers that help customers deploy mail exchange, so they can then upsell new workloads.

The pair are equally in tune with the best way to kick Windows Server 2003 out of an organisation. Use Microsoft planning vouchers and “let me throw my old stuff out of the window”, says Adam.

El Chan was confused as to why Wham’s "Last Christmas" was playing in the background until one insider told us that apparently the video was a message of festive good cheer to staff last Christmas. Who would have thunk it?

After watching this visual cheese, some staff might just have decided this was their last Chrimbo at Insight Enterprises.

Here it is, anyway:

Readers Viewers be warned, it is indeed a video nasty. ®
