Moshe Yanai's Infinidat startup, which came out of stealth in April with its InfiniBox array, is bragging about its growth.
It recently revealed figures including:
- 300 per cent sales growth in the second quarter compared with Q1 2015
- 500 per cent growth in channel sales
- 53 per cent of global sales came through resellers and distis
Whisper it, but these high growth rates could be from smallish number bases of course. But, you have to say a three-times revenue jump from one quarter to the next is a great fillip, small base or not.
Storage industry grand fromage, Infinidat founder, and CEO Yanai found us a canned quote: "During a period in which enterprise storage sales are declining for the major vendors, the high performance, scalability, reliability and best-in-industry TCO delivered by INFINIDAT's unique hybrid architecture are proving that if you can solve customers’ storage problems, they will buy.”
You tell it how it is Moshe. Infinidat spells its name in all-caps by the way, kind of like printed SHOUTING.
Infinidat says it gained several large customers in the second quarter, such as two global financial services companies that each bought 10PB of capacity. Having gained 79 channel partners in total, it says it has expanded its market reach in Europe and in Asia Pacific.
Yanai also talked about repeat customers: "We have multiple customers who initially purchased from us in 2014 and who have, with recent purchases, eclipsed $10m in INFINIDAT product purchased."
Matt Lavarone, systems and storage infrastructure director at Tricore, an MSP and Infinidat customer which bought its first sysyem in November 2013, said: “InfiniBox’s sustained IOPS performance was better than what we observed from other storage systems, even though the other arrays were all flash.”

What's clear is that Infinidat is making good progress thus far and it would be interesting to know who its competitors are, and their products. We suspect its top-of-the-range enterprise-class gear; VMAX, USP, high-end 3PAR, DS8000, that sort of level.
If it is making sales advances while DS8000 and VMAX sales are declining then that's impressive.
