Cloud solutions bigwig seeking UK pastures new, say sources

Microsoft veteran Edward Hyde is to leave the organisation after 20 years spent in the big slammer at the company, The Channel can reveal.

Hyde joined as distribution account manager in 1995 and subsequently held senior sales positions covering the public sector and enterprise licensing partners customers.

Most recently – from January to be precise – he was partner operations director, a role that involved managing cloud solutions providers and signifies the shifting power base in Microsoft away from on-premise licenses to the fluffy white stuff.

Industry sources tell us that Hyde has yet to leave Microsoft but he is heading to a data management specialist to run its UK channel.

We are awaiting comment from Commvault, which last week reported its first loss in the five years since is started making the numbers public; falling sales in the Americas and currency were blamed.

Microsoft has not yet appointed a successor for cloud solutions providers (CSP), but one candidate muted is Matt Eckersall, currently director of hosting.

Eckersall replaced Simon Aldous in 2013, the man who once said Microsoft wanted to create a “Mac look and feel in terms of graphics” when the company was designing Windows 7.

Microsoft refused to comment and Hyde did not respond to calls for comment. ®
