Azlan crowns Tomlin

Today Basingstoke ... tomorrow the world

Notorious self-licker Rob Tomlin has got even more reason to be pleased with himself after bagging the top job at Azlan UK, the enterprise distribution arm of Tech Data.

The remit handed to Azlan’s former biz development director is to make more of IT security, the emerging software defined infrastructure space, and cloud aggregation services.

In any spare time, Tomlin will also be expected to take a central role in “further developing” relations with vendors including Cisco, Citrix, Dell, EMC, HPE, Lenovo, Symantec, Veritas and VMware.

As is customary in these situations, the man himself told us of his excitement on taking the new role, and his boss at Tech Data UK, Andy Gass, talked about his sales general creating a “one-stop shop” for enterprise IT and cloudy services. All lovely stuff.

Tomlin, who started a career in tech with the multivendor distribution arm at ICL, has spent much of his adult life working in tech distribution.

He worked at Interface Solutions, which was acquired by Specialist Distribution Group (SCH at the time), which was then itself acquired by Tech Data. ®
