PernixData scoops new head of sales from Nimble

Mike Munoz strides into the sales bearpit

VMware distributed hypervisor cacher PernixData has recruited Mike Munoz to run its sales organisation as Chief Revenue Officer.*

Munoz is stepping into a hot seat vacated by Ted Stinson back in July 2015, and he has a great CV:

  • VP Sales at Nimble Storage – Feb 2010 - Nov 2014
  • Divisional VP Sales, Data Domain – 2004 - 2010
  • Account Exec at NetApp – 1999 - 2001

Stinson went through the PernixData exit door in August last year along with several channel and inside sales people. He is now VP of worldwide Sales at tCell.io, a software business.

Munoz left Nimble, where he was highly regarded, in 2014 for emergency family medical issues. His replacement, Eric Mann, did not last long, and had to be replaced by Denis Murphy.

Mike Munoz returned to Nimble in August last year to run its worldwide technology alliances and associated go-to-market sales initiatives at VP-level. That did not last for long and now he has moved to PernixData.

Poojan Kumar, CEO and co-founder of PernixData, made Munoz's objective a high one: "We are thrilled to welcome an accomplished veteran like Mike, who will have an enormous impact on our goal of making PernixData a de facto standard in every virtualised data centre."

"Mike has the sales acumen to build a velocity business, much in the same way VMware did in its early years. With over 500,000 VMware customers ready to be Pernix’d, his sales leadership will help us capitalise on a huge market opportunity ahead." ®
