Just when you thought filtering technology had reached new levels of sophistication, along comes the perennial favorite of the Lincolnshire town of Scunthorpe in the UK.
Facebook has prevented local band October Drift from promoting its gig because of the existence of a certain four-letter word embedded in the town's name. The group tried to use Facebook's "boosted posts" to notify fans about its upcoming concert, and the system refused to let them thanks to its profanity filter.
The band explained the situation on their own Facebook page, concluding: "Sort yourself out Zuckerberg you crazy bastard." Facebook has yet to respond to their appeals. ®
